Witch. Couch. Tea. Book.

Well, that's the simple version. The long one would involve what kind of tea, what kind of book, and the fact that Morgan is reading it upside down.

"Morgan? How are you?" Malcolm is nearby, looking curiously at the book.

A little smile.

"Having trouble sleeping. But, good."

"Sorry to hear it. Hope it's not because of something bothering you."

Malcolm's still trying to make out the title of the book. He's just curious that way.

"Practicing your upside-down reading?" he asks with a gently teasing smile.

"It makes more sense this way," she informs him.

Malcolm nods. "Now that I think about it, a lot of the books I had to read in school were probably the same way. Never thought of reading them upside down, though."

"Obviously I should have met you years ago."

She might think he's teasing, but Malcolm is actually thinking of a couple examples...

A little smile at that.

So now he can't help himself.

"So what is that book anyway?"

You'd think he'd know by now that being tactful yet direct is always best.

"Book on magic."

Malcolm is a little surprised.

"Are there still things for you to learn? I guess I assumed your magic--well, that your magic came from inside somehow. That it wasn't something you could get from a book. Not like maybe other magical people could."

"But I'm hardly an expert, obviously."

"There are always things to learn. Spells. Ways of doing things."

"What kind of spells would those be? Could I see one?"

Oops.

Malcolm shuts his big mouth a bit too late.

Uh oh...

She turns her hand up, palm facing the ceiling. A single word, and there is a flame dancing on her slender hand.

Malcolm is absolutely fascinated. To his eyes, the flame is like the one in the fireplace, and yet ... different. Does he see other colors of flame within it? He can't be sure, but he finds himself drawn to it somehow.

His eyes a bit dazzled, he reaches out, almost touching it before he snaps to, his hand stopping a few inches away from it.

He looks up into Morgan's eyes, a little embarrassed by his reaction.

A little smile.

"You can touch it, if you want."

More than a little surprised, he hesitates. But he's known Morgan for a while now.

He reaches out and touches the flame, with no idea of what to expect...

It's warm, sometimes hot sometimes not. The feeling of fire, crackling without the heat.
