Penelope can't get over how very much the outdoors of Milliways resembles the grounds at Hogwarts. She's outside now, amethyst winter robes and teal scarf-and-hat keeping her quite warm.
Out of nowhere, she hears someone crying.
Then she realizes that, in fact, it isn't out of nowhere, it's out of a very definite somewhere: Draco.
Draco had noticed it as well, which gave small comfort to him. Familiar and safe.
Save for rude interruptions when one's trying to have some quiet time.
"Of course I'm fine, you silly twit." Draco scowled at her, quickly rubbing his eyes to get rid of the tears. "Enjoying the lovely weather, now leave me alone."
He's Draco Malfoy, you think he's still not going to snark and insult? Hahahahaha... yeah right. "Nothing's wrong with me. Now toddle off." he angrily replied, even as he was fighting the urge to cry again.
Draco stared. Of all the! He decided to get up and move instead, only he promptly fell into snow as he tried stepping off with his left leg, now the bad or weak leg. He winced, and choked back a sob at the brief flash of pain. He grabbed his cane, and tried to push himself up again.
"No, it's not. It's cold, and dark." Draco shot back, blinking a few times at his watering eyes. He couldn't bury the tremor in his voice this time either, and that last word came out like a curse, laced with anger and absolute hatred. He gritted his teeth, and finally got himself standing again. He did have to pause, and lean against the cane from the effort though. Skiving off Quidditch practices this past year took him out of shape some.
She resists sniping at him about how Chester's sentimental tendencies are no laughing matter, but, well, that had been the point, hadn't it, to get him to stop moping and trust her a little?
And, as Lux is fond of pointing out, Chas is a dreadful sap about those birds.
"Excellent idea," she says with a nod and a smile. "I could do with some tea."
Penelope turns slightly, keeping Draco in view, and waits for him to precede her. She wants to have an eye on him in case he slips or something.

"Are you all right?"

"Silly twit?" she repeats, flabbergasted. "What the hell is wrong with y--"

She turns resolutely towards the lake, but doesn't leave.

He'll only snarl at me if I try to help, the little--
"It is lovely out, isn't it?" she says lightly, reaching for her wand inside her robes in case he's really hurt himself.

"Well, come inside," she says. "You look an absolute mess."

Well, why not leave him? He's just sulking.
After a moment, she says slowly, "You know ... he'd kill me for mentioning this, but my brother Chas cries every time he finds a fallen bird."
She smiles faintly.
"They freeze in the winter, you know, and when he ... well. He's quite silly about them."

"Right, so about getting out of this cold? I'm all for it."
