Sometimes William really hates Milliways for all its nice folks who try and help make things clearer. He likes Miss Barlow and knows she's not as law abiding as she might be, but he doesn't know how to not be angry at Ben Wade

Annabeth is just leaving the Outside for the Bar after an evening jog, walking past the forge, when she sights William.

She pauses before she approaches, watching him for a moment.

(Admittedly, she had mistaken him for Percy again, until the cowboy clothes made themselves clear.)

Except - he doesn't look too good.

"Hey ..." she says. "You okay?"

"Hello, Annabeth. What are you doin' out so late?"

He tries to make his voice sound like he's fine, but it doesn't really work.

She crouches by him, on the balls of her feet.

"I was just heading back to the Bar, actually," she says. "I was jogging for a bit.

"Are you okay, William?" she repeats.

Because she feels like it bears repeating.

He touches the bruise on his face which is healing and tries to manage a smile,

"Just tired of the crowds inside was all."

"Would you rather be left alone?" she asks.

It's a fair question, as far as she's concerned.

There are times when she'd really rather not talk to anyone, and it doesn't really have anything to do with being anti-social.

"No, I'm fine. How are you doin'?"

Talking will help him not give in to feeling powerless.

"Okay," she says. She decides to settle beside him.

She's in her jogging clothes - tight fitting jogging shorts and tank top. She readjusts the small dagger strapped to her leg, and turns back to him.

"I'm okay," she replies. "I haven't seen you for a while. I actually thought you were Percy again, just now."

He nods and quickly looks away from the dagger and out again since he thinks he's used to modern clothing but he's not,

"I've been about. I was here on the Fourth and I've been findin' doors pretty often. Oh, sorry about that."

She smiles a little.

"Hey, it's not your fault you look so much like him," she says kindly. "I guess I've been around - not often, but ... whenever I do find a door, I generally spend it with just the one person."

"Who's that?" Clearly its someone who makes her smile which is good.

"He's a wizard from a completely different kind of world than mine," Annabeth says, blushing faintly.

Except it feels almost - well, it's weird because she'd just mentioned Percy, and William looks so much like Percy, and now -

Ugh.

Feelings.

"His name is Scorpius. I'm not sure if you might have met him."

"I think I might have. Yeah, he thought I was Albus,"

Milliways is a confusing place when you look like two different people.

Even more than usual, yeah.

"Anyway," she says, shaking her head, "he's kind of my - I mean, I guess we're dating.

"Which is really weird because not only have I never had a boyfriend, but I've never had a boyfriend from another world. It's a lot to wrap your head around."

And since when did she start rambling like a daughter of Aphrodite?

"That's good though, I mean you like each other,"

He's not exactly sure if Thalia's his girlfriend and he doesn't want to say anything in case she's not.

"Yeah," she says.

And that's totally true, too.

She does like Scorpius.

But - anyway.

"So," she says, gesturing to his face, "what happened there?"

"I got into a fight on the Fourth, its healin' up fine,"

He's been in worse and the bruise is just interesting colors now.
