Sometimes William really hates Milliways for all its nice folks who try and help make things clearer. He likes Miss Barlow and knows she's not as law abiding as she might be, but he doesn't know how to not be angry at Ben Wade

Elrond has been walking outside while the sun set and the stars rose. Now he is making his way back and slows his pace as he comes upon young William.

"It is a beautiful evening," he says, quietly. "Even if the stars here are strange and makes me long for the heavens of my homeland."

William looks over and tips his hat, he hadn't expected anyone else to be out here,

"It is, sir. They ain't the starts I know."

"May I?" Elrond asks, indicating the spot next to William with a small gesture.

He looks forlorn, the young one. So company may be good. Or it may not, in which case he will leave him be.

"Course, there's plenty of space,"

He shifts over and tries to manage a smile but it doesn't reach his eyes.

Elrond sits down, arranging his robe around him as he does so. And manages to make it look natural.

he sits quietly for a moment or two and then says, "At times, relieving one's heart is good. Even if it feels like talking about things does little to change them."

"No, it tends to bring up new sorts of trouble. I guess it can help just ain't really one thing."

Elrond nods, understanding in his eyes. And then he stays quiet. Leaving space for William to fill, if he needs to. Offering company if that is all that is needed.

Healing isn't all about potions, poultices, and tisanes.

"How have you been, sir?"

He's not quite ready to talk yet but the silence makes him feel like he's being rude.

"I have been well enough William. Sorting through my library and packing things down." There is a small pause. "How is your brother?"

"He's not doin' too bad. Is that a big job?"

Libraries always seem like they must be huge spaces.

[starrydome]

"It is. And as I am very fond of my books and loathe to part with them, the job gets even harder," Elrond says with a small smile.

"Where will the books go?"

[starrydome]

"Some will go to my father in law, the rest likely to my son-in-law, the King of Gondor and Arnor. A few tomes have been promised to specific individuals, so they have to be packed down and arrangements must be made for their safe delivery.

"It sounds like a big job. Do you have folks helpin' you out?"

[starrydome]

He nods. "Those in my household who have not already left are all working with the slow dismantling. And as my household has been large it is still considerable, even without those who have left."

[not_his_pa]

"That sounds like it must be somethin' to see,"

He smiles and winces as the bruise on his face is still tender.
