revelations of sorts...
It's been a long time, longer online than in my journal (thankfully I've keep some kind of written introspection going). Things have been in the works; I'm putting together a print portfolio for an interview at Kala Arts in Berkeley - they have an awesome printmaking studio, and for a monthly fee artists can have 24 hour access. I can't wait to start making prints again... I've been drawings 'comics' though for a lack of an overall story line they've morphed into little vignettes more than anything. It's helped me put entire compositions and storys and themes onto a single drawing, which for printmaking is essential.
I've also been having revelations... mostly due to the fact that I see in my mother what I will end up being if I don't start taking initiative over my life and how I feel about myself. I already knew that I needed to work on a lot of personal issues, but seeing it mirrored in my mother years down the line has made me all the more frantic to get underway in understanding myself.
I've been promoted to another belt in Kung Fu - I'm now an orange belt, and I feel better about myself physically than ever before (not to mention, I feel better physically than ever before). It's an exciting time right now - my group of friends has kept me strong, has challenged me, and has been a source of endless hours of fun - the bacar crew certainly knows how to have a good time.
AND on top of all that, I'm seeing Sleater-Kinney in May... the first show to kick off a great summer of music.
