I dunno if any of you are fans of Last Comic Standing but I just met one of the guys, Gary Gulman (the tall Jewish one).
So, Dane Cook's Tourgasm came to Syracuse tonight. And apparantly we were the only school he personally requested to visit and the only place he perfomed two shows.
I went with my friends Fran and Ashley, who are excellent at distracting me from graphics assignments and also very fun to hang out with. They went early to wait in line because I had class until 45 minutes before show time (yes, people were line up for hours) but unfotunately I had the tickets so they had to wait a while to get in. Luckily, we still got really good seats, third row, off to the side.
So Jay Davis, Robert Kelly, and Gary Gulman opened for Dane, and they were all pretty good. I really ove stand-up comedy a lot, and I have now seen a total of 6 comedians, one of them twice, so I really liked it. I can't really remember a lot of the jokes, 'cause my brain is leaking out my ears, but if anyone really wants to know, just leave a note and I'll try to remember later.
Then Dane came on, and he got a standing ovation before he even took the stage. It was fun. Once again, I remember nothing, but I know I was glad he didn't do much from the album or the shows I've seen on Comedy Central Presents, to that was good.
Then it was over and they told us that if we wanted to stay til midnight we could meet the guys and get pictures and autographs and stuff, but it was 9:00 and we didn't really want to wait 3 hours, plus we had, you know, school work to do. So we decided instead to stalk the tour buses and see if we could find them. And we did.
Jay Davis was there for a minute but he left before we got up the courage to talk to him. But then we spotted Gary Gulman. Fran took this picture from far away while we waited to talk to him:
Then we went over and Fran introduced herself (she's the outgoing one of the group) and put her hand out to shake his and he hugged her. Aw. Ashley and I introduced ourselves and shook his hand.
We congratulated him on the show and chat chitted for a while (oh look I remembered a Dane Cook joke lmao). Then we asked someone to take a picture and she did:
And then she asked if we wanted one more and Gary said "I don't mind. They smell great!" So we all laughed and took another pic:
And then we chatted for another minute. Fran apologized that we're not Jewish and he said, "Well I've never actually dated a Jewish girl so it's okay."
And then we had to go so we said goodbye and he said, "So it was Fran...Mollie...and Ashley...right?" and we congratulated him for getting right and he said, "I'll see you in a few years..."
And we left, joking and talking way too loud as we walked down the street. And then I realized I was a dumbass for not getting him to sign my ticket, but hey, can't win em all.
Fun night, good friends, but now I'm all grungy cause it was 423598645 degrees inside that auditorium, so I'm off to shower and sleep.
