Learn how to make this banner:
Okay, I first started out with a 543x353 document with a white background
Then I take this Polaroid brush from Damnedinblack.net
I keep it on its original size and on a new layer, I apply it in black
Now I take my picture that I want to use and paste it over the Polaroid and set the blend mode to Lighten 100%
Okay, this is where it could get a little tricky. First I duplicate my picture and set it to Screen 64%
Now make a new layer, but make sure you check the little box that says Group with Previous Layer
Flood Fill the layer with #001056 and set to Exclusion 100%
Make another new layer and also check the Group With Previous Layer box. We’re doing this because we only want the colors applied to the picture.
Flood fill it with #92C2E0 and set it to Soft Light 100%
Another new layer and Group it also with the previous layer. Flood fill with #CFECFF and set to Color Burn 100%
Another new layer and group it with previous layer. Flood fill with #65AFDD and set it to Soft Light 65%
One more new layer and also group with previous layer. Flood fill with #FC9BA0 and set it to Soft Light 100%
I don't remember if I did any sharpening of the picture, but I probably did, because I usually do.
Now on a new layer just above the background, I took this Post-It brush from
wash_when_dirty and applied the brush in black to the right of my picture. I duplicated the layer once to make it a little darker
Next I add my text on top of the Post-It brushes. I selected a bit of lyrics from the song ‘Enemy’ by Chris’ band Fozzy. You’re going to want to put each line of text on a new layer because you’re going to need to rotate and size each one a little differently…well I did anyway. LOL
The font I used was Violation at 20pt…and about 30pt on the title. Once I had all of my text on and where I wanted it, I linked each layer together and merge them and then duplicated the layer.
Okay time for some brushes. I took the 2 watercolor sets from Imagination:
http://nadine.fan-arts.net/main.html I’m not gonna post each of the brushes that I used. Just go to her site and DL them if you don't have them already ;)
In black, I placed the brushes on the Polaroid frame and on top of the Post-it…but make sure you don’t block out your text too much. Adjust the opacities and blend mode as needed.
Then I took this texture from
meleada and pasted it on top of everything. I set it to Screen at 78% and erased the parts that I thought were covering his face too much. You can get the full size of this texture at her journal
Next I take this texture from Immortality
http://www.fade-it.org/immortality/ you can get the full size version of the texture there
I pasted it on top of everything and set it to Exclusion at 41%. Then with my rectangular marquee tool, I cut off the portion of the texture that covered the Polaroid area.
Then I took this line brush and used it both in black and white randomly
If anyone knows where this is from, please let me know
Then I took this texture again and set it to Soft Light 82%
Then I took this text brush from AVH and used it in white, erasing the parts that covered the Polaroid area.
It’s coming together pretty well, huh =)
Next I took this texture from Scooly. The link I had to the site is no longer working unfortunately
I gave it a motion blur FILTER>>BLUR>>MOTION BLUR…the settings I have no idea…I don’t remember. Just give it a good blur until its nice and smooth looking. Then set it to Color Burn at 38%
Next I took this tape brush from
http://braggadocio.org/?page_id=66 And use on the 2 corners of the Post It
Next I added my text. I used the Monika font at 60pt in all small letters and set it to Soft Light. I also added a drop shadow and a stroke LAYER>>LAYER STYLE>>DROP SHADOW/STROKE. Just fiddle around with the settings until you get what you like.
Wooooo! We’re just about done!
Make a new layer and flood fill it with ##FC9BA0. Set it to Soft Light 19%
And finally I added some more grungy brushes until I was satisfied with it.
And there we go =)
WOW! That was a lot easier to make than it was to write the tutorial for. LOL
