I got a job!!! It pays more than I was making at my previous position, I get a signing bonus, and the benefits are outstanding, including half day Fridays between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I'm ecstatic to finally be rejoining the workforce, almost exactly a year to the day that I left.

However, the job is in NYC. I love NYC. It's not that I have to move there that is the problem, it's the moving. Period. I'm just so tired of uprooting my life every few years! I go somewhere, I build a life, and I move on and start over again. However, in the balance, just the fact that I have a job outweighs everything else, so I'm happy.

It's just a lot to swallow. I have 3 weeks to basically pack up my entire life and move it across the country. Yikes.

Also, on the flight back from NYC, I had a layover in Memphis. Our plane was 2 hrs late taking off from JFK, so I ended up stranded in Memphis for the night. I made friends with the gate agent, and she put me in the top hotel they offer, a Marriott that was not an airport Marriott or a Courtyard. Gorgeous! In addition, I have always wanted to go to Memphis, and I saw it as a sign that the trip worked out this way. I met a few fellow stranded travelers on the shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and we decided to cab it to Beale Street to see some blues music and eat some BBQ. We all got along so well, it was hard to believe we were complete strangers and Beale Street, as it turns out, is really fun! I'm so happy I got to have one last random adventure before putting my nose to the grindstone again.
Here are a few photos from Memphis:

This was a really crazy year, but I believe that everything happened for a reason and it's leading me toward a much better future.
