Baby don't worry, you know that you got me
Ok, so last night I went to see Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings at Club Nokia. The tickets were courtesy of my friend's connection at a rival publishing company. If you've never seen her live, you most definitely should. She is amazing. Incredible voice, so much energy and stage presence for miles.
However, the highlight of the night is the pic above. I totally met
?uestlove from the Roots! I never go up to famous people because I think it's lame, and most of the time I would have nothing to say to them anyway. But I am obsessed with this dude. He's a freakin amazing drummer and producer and he's just so darn cute! So I gathered up all my courage, and I went over and told him I thought he was incredible and that I'm from the Philly area too, and that I work for his publishing company. He was like, what part of Philly? And of course I had to admit that it was actually South Jersey, to which he replied, "I'm sorry, but I'm glad you got out" hahaha! And then, when I told him I worked for his publishing company, he said again "I'm sorry!" haha. I love him. Also, I was so amped to meet him, I was twitching like a caffeine addict. He was like, awww, stop shaking! And he hugged me. Maaaaan. So you can see how big I'm cheesing in the picture, and how I actually managed to give myself a double chin from smiling so hard.
Anyway, after the picture, I mentioned that I was working on a deal for him as we speak, and he made a joke about it, and then I told him to have a good night and walked away, with most of my dignity still intact.
I am still geeking out over the meeting. He is not only a talented musician, but also a really down-to-earth, cool dude. I think I will marry him.
