Help Rex finish a Bingo meme! :p

Okay, so my fic-writing output has dimmed a good deal in recent months, due to RPing and exchange fics which I can't post here yet. But with the deadline for Bingos coming up, I want to get a blackout on one card. And I have chosen my Schmoop Bingo card, which is the closest to complete ( Read more... )

Fic: Baby, It's Cold Outside (Tim/Beryl) milleniumrex January 1 2011, 01:39:15 UTC
Title: Baby, it's Cold Outside
Characters/Pairing: Tim Drake/Beryl Hutchinson
Rating: PG
Words: 503
Prompt: Fire in the Fireplace

Tim quickly stalked into the manorr, Beryl's unconscious form draped over his back. Her clothes were soaked through with freezing water, dripping down his cowl and chilling him as well. But he didn't care right now. He just knew he needed to get Beryl warm, and quickly.

Pressing a button above the fireplace mantle, Tim watched as a fire roared into existence, instantly warming the room surrounding them. He bent down, easing Beryl off his back and laying her down on the rug in front of the fire. He watched her carefully for several minutes, checking her vitals until she slowly started to wake up. Thank God, he thought. She was still ice cold, but it seemed he had gotten her to safety before any serious damage was done.

"Nnn... Tim?"

"I'm here, Beryl." Tim reached out and took her ice cold hand in his. "You gave me a hell of a scare."

"What happened? Last thing I remember, I'm chasing those goons..."

"Yeah, and you caught them. You just happened to catch them in Gotham Harbor in the middle of December. Hence the hypothermia." Tim smiled.

Beryl was starting to shake now, so Tim ran over to the couch and picked up a blanket, draping it over her. She was past the worst part now, and she would get her strength back as the fire warmed her up.

"One - one hell of a night, eh, boy wonder?"

"No crazier than normal. I'm just glad you're all right. You gave me a hell of a scare."

"Guess... maybe it's time to invest in some body armor, then? Just for insurance?"

"That might not be the worst idea. Dick told me that he was always getting hypothermia when he was wearing the short pants. It's one of the hazards of this job." Tim reached down and felt Beryl's forehead. "You're warming up pretty well. How are you feeling?"

"Like one of those defrosted ice age monsters in the old creature features..." Beryl groaned. "I think I'm about to go on a rampage in downtown Tokyo."

"Well, then." Tim smiled slyly as he stripped off his Red Robin costume, getting down on the floor next to Beryl. "I guess we'll just have to warm you up a little quicker."

Lying on the floor behind Beryl, facing the fire with her, Tim wrapped his body around her, holding her tight and warming her with his body heat. She sighed blissfully as the bitter cold invading her bones seemed to lift a little bit.

"Does this mean I need to get myself frozen more often, boy wonder?"

"Please don't." Tim grinned. "We can do this all you want, but the less near-death experiences you have, the better."

"I think we can both agree on that..." Beryl said as she rubbed up against Tim's warm body. It had been a long, cold night out there in Gotham, but here in the safety of Tim's penthouse, the cold seemed to be at bay for a little while longer.
