I found a way to give you Tim/Cissie anyway. ;) -----
It was the last pass before the wedding. Cissie was in the bride's dressing room, going over things with Maid of Honor Cassie. Tim and best man Conner were out back chatting. And the rest of the wedding party was milling around, talking with friends and sneaking alone time with significant others. All except two.
"So...you're solo too?"
Jaime looked up and turned his head to see a cute girl, about his age, with mousy brown hair looking at him. "Yeah...I was going to bring a date, but we broke up a few weeks ago. She turned into a Goddess and had to go save a sorcery dimension. Long story."
The girl blinked at him a few times, and Jaime silently kicked himself. Sure, everyone here knew that there were superheroes present, but not everyone was one. "Oh. Sorry. You're not in 'the life', I guess?"
"I was, actually. Cissie, Cassie and I go back a pretty long time, to Young Justice. I'm Greta Hayes, but I used to be Secret."
"Secret!" Jaime said with a look of recognition. "You're..."
"Less ghosty. I know. I've pretty much been doing the normal girl thing, going to college. I'm out of superheroics with no real desire to go back. You're Blue Beetle, right?"
"Yeah. Tim and I met in the Titans. I was kind of surprised he picked me as a groomsman, actually, since I didn't know him as long as Dick, Bart, and Conner."
"I guess we both feel a little out of place here, huh? Cissie and I are still really close, but I'm not exactly plugged into the hero scene anymore."
"That's fine, though." Jaime smiled. "You're living your life, and you've obviously been there for Cissie when she needed you."
"Yeah." Greta looked up as she heard the wedding march start to play. "Oh, man! I've got to get out there!"
"Yeah, me too." Jaime paused. "Save me a dance at the reception?"
"Count on it." Greta grinned as she pulled her dress up off the ground and ran out to join her fellow Bridesmaids. Jaime followed. Maybe this wedding wasn't going to be as awkward as he had feared.
