Oh, this is just gorgeous in so many ways. Your descriptions were perfect and really painted a vivid picture of everything that was going on here.

And I hated Gaius for invading this moment that wasn't meant for him, but at the same time, I love that this turned into one of the very few things of beauty that he'd seen on New Caprica--that it instilled in him that the beauty still existed, that happiness could still be won. I also think that I've rarely seen Gaius carrying the burden of what he saw on Pegasus with him through the rest of the series. He's often not given that chance because of the other mistakes he made. It reminds me that he's human and compassionate and everything that, to me, makes him such an attractive and complex character.

Plus this was incredibly hot. I don't know who left the prompt (if it was geek or someone else) but I thank them, and you, like a zillion times. Ngh, Laura and girl sexytimes. With Gaius watching. This was actually in my head from something at rememberlaura last week so it was fantastic to see it magically appear.

Thank you for the lovely, detailed comment. I loved what you said about this instilling in him that happiness could still be won on New Caprica; I think it's what leaves him so despairing at the end with Caprica - because he has no idea how to get that for himself. I'm pleased that you found his characteriztion here compelling and creepy, and still managed to find the Laura/Maya stuff hot.

I wish the show had had Gaius remember Gina even a little. *sigh*

Me too. He was around Caprica enough that you'd think he would have remembered Gina sometimes... plus I mean, god, she blew up Cloud 9 with the nuke HE GAVE HER and we got no reaction from him about that. Like, at all. Wow, what a plot hole.
