this weekend was fun. I am sad that Jessica and i didnt get to hang out though.
WE went to a bbq on sunday with Bob and Nancy. It was alright. It was at some lady from church's house.
I like all of the people from church and all but it seems like no one really made an effort to talk to either of us. We felt so wierd. And then when they did, theu treated us like we were 10 years old.
One lady asked me how i was doing and immediately asked me who i was with in a way that implied she thought i was with my parents or something. She didnt know what to do when i told her i was with my fiancee. And that doesnt just go for "church people", that goes for everyone lately. Our waitress the other night saw my ring and freaked out that we are engaged. We tried to explain that its a promise ring and that we are in a way engaged but no matter what we plan to wait until after our bachlor degree to get married. That explaination didnt help her much....she thought i was 15! Do i look 15? I was like try 19. O well. And i think i have heard everyones story. Some people are supportive of us because they got married young and are still happily married or they see how genuinely in love we are and understand it. Some are in disbelief that we arent so career minded, although we both do want good careers and are definitely getting our masters degree for that reason. And others are opposed on all acounts because they are either newly divorced, married young and then divorced, or too convinced that the way that they lived their life is the best way and because they got married late in life, so should everyone else.
bottom line: as of now we are promised for marriage. Justin is paying for my engagement ring that i helped pick out and have not yet received. my dad gave him my hand in marriage and has given him ideas to propose to me. We are getting married in around 3 years. and thats that. unless we change the plans because we feel that God is leading us to go about it differently.
on another note, Sherri has the coolest taning bed in her house. Well its not really a bed, you stand up in front of it. Youre only supposed to do it for like 0 seconds on each side. I did it today an i can already see the diference. Im going there tomarrow to do it again because i want to look tan for the cruise this weekend. ITs the coolest thing though because its uvb rays and they are the ones that dont cause skin cancer. It is for her skin condition and its paid for by her insurance....o man im hitting it up all the time.
