Zoe's Future
Bob and I met with the plastic surgeon yesterday morning and got some news as far as Zoe’s surgery schedule. It’s not set with exact dates till she’s born but it’s a rough estimate.
Her 1st surgery will be to repair the right side of her nose. They will do this surgery one to two weeks after she is born. The correct this first cause it will bring the cleft lip gap in a little closer, so when they repair her lip it will be easier and less of a scar.
Then her 2nd surgery will repair her lip. This will be done around May when she is about 3 months old. Before the surgery they may tape across the upper lip to prepare for surgery.
Her 3rd surgery is going to close her palate. This will happen around November when she is about 9 months old.
She will need to go back to the surgeon before kindergarten to see if anything else will need to be repaired on the outside. Like if she still has a slop to her nose or something. But it’s usually up to the parents.
When she is about 7 1/2 years old, she will go in for bone grafting once most of her baby teeth are gone. She will most likely have braces later on or dental surgery, but thats minor.
