a voice by way of my sound

So the last thing I’ve been doing…
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve had a lot of shit happen in my life since last I wrote some thing of significance in my LJ space (way too much shit to cram here now)

I’m currently in talks with a web design agency to use and feature my music or a newly created piece for some web promo shit!
Maybe two pieces one a car promo, and the other some soft porn craptacular piece that may be available for downloading.
Now as great as this may sound I have every trepidation about having my works out there and available for the public to judge, critique, sample, rip, and/or pirate. (YEA, Mr. Muthafucka!!! What goes around, comes back the fuck around! Kinda different being on the other side of the idealism that gives you free right to stump on others art and licensing fees!)
So I checked into “protecting my rights as a musical artist", but only got more confused as to weather it’s necessary and or needed in order to protect myself should this company actually use my music. I checked out all three major licensing organizations. ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. Then there are Musical Libraries I can join who’s job it is to get your music in the hands of people who use music for movies, TV, and other things of the such, (for a small fee of course!) like this A&R company. it all seems a little daunting for a little nobody who’s new to the music industry trying to do it for himself.
anyway, the company made me an offer and I also have to do some research as to whether the amount they offered me is fair or some bargain basement bullshit they offered the little nobody guy trying to do it for himself. (it was really low! Not that I’m trying to get rich quick, but I will have died waitin’ with licensing and sync fees they initially offered …LOL)

All in all this may be a small step for others, but a big step for me. I for once don’t feel sure about anything I’m doing. this is moving me out of my comfort space and I don’t like the way it makes me second guess ideals and/or judgment. All I know is that I do want to be known, and if my music can help me make a way for my dreams and help provide a little substance for my son’s future then I need to turn this substance into fruitration. But my biggest fear is what Q-Tip said is true “rule eight hundred and eighty… all record companies are shady!”

Now for those few of you who actually do read what the fuck I write and have read this far (wow!!! You must have been board like a muthafucka with no fuckin social life at all to speak of!) you can find a sample of some of my early work at my My Space site drop me a comment let me know what you think… as long as it’s all good! LOL!
