yo yo yo!

The 808 state was with MC Tunes - 'The Only Rhyme That Bites' on some old Smash hits abum that also had 'Dub Be Good To Me' by Beats International (unsure if it's just me but, a classic!) and some slightly credible tunes such as 'the power' by snap, technotronic... as well as a whole lot of rubbish which does a lot for memories! :)

that shop sounds pretty cool... im intrigued by the '60's stoner dropouts'... i think im going to try to buy as much cheap stuff as i can, and see what i can make from it. Like, using yur resources I guess... It's actually much harder too, i think - what with different production phases every so many years (am I talking rubbish?) i find myself reaching for the bass switch a lot more often to try to make it go into something a little less ancient...

which reminds me - I think i sent you a text about this - I heard DJ Yoda played in sheffield the other day, tell me you went! I heard that guy for the first time the other day, and i can't even believe it. amazing stuff. i almost feel robbed of my imagination. isn't it annoying when someone else does exactly what you're trying to achieve? Had it been even a fraction less than amazing and I wouldn't have let him get away with it and flicked his damn ear i tell you! ;)

did i tell you about the church fair and the seven inches? i seem to have not updated my journal on that great day.... I should do that!

yo ho ho!

Yeah i think I wrote a message on your site forum about missing YODA. He's rad man, we're always listening to the How To Mix cds around halls.. his cd covers are wicked too, complete cut and paste madness..

Got to love The Only Rhyme That Bites.. just the way it breaks into the strings for little over a few seconds, then BOOM! back into the rap. And Dub Be Good To Me, i'm with you on the classic status..

You can always pick up those DEEP HEAT 89' style records at charity shops, its much have been wierd back then with everyone and their mom playing tunes like Westbam 'Monkey See Monkey Do', would have been a fun time. The only bad thing about those records is they cram about 10 tracks onto each side of the vinyl, making the recordings really quiet. You usually cant get away with them in clibs, the tunes sound really flat and empty. Wicked for bedroom mixes though, I sometimes treat the mix afterwards in SoundForge or whatever, just add a little compression and it fills those mid-ranges back up again like magic..

Off to see SHY FX at sheffield union tonight, going to get very drunk too, i will hopefully deserve it as i'm planning to finish a uni assignment before i go out, shee-at! its half five, got to get working, see ya!

peace, crisp.

easy now!

Ah, you learn something every day. And it's usually from someone who's known for ages! I had no idea about the decreasing sound quality thing. So do you have decks again now?

i have to figure out this sound forge thing. ever since you gave me that mix CD (was that xmas, or summer?) I've been trying to either run some emulator on my mac to run it (minimal success) or find something that can equal it, closest I hear is Logic Audio but I haven't managed to get hold of a working copy yet. I had to buy this USB stereo input thing for my mac since it doesn't have a stereo line in, and now i'm stuck looking for decent software. how did you learn to use that program anyway, just fiddling with it blindly?

as a side note, I saw 'the only rhyme that bites' in Oldies today for £3 on 12".... :) and the cookie crew...

man your union has some wicked stuff.... i have to check it sometime! Heard the Fucking D Bros are playing Fabric next friday, tis but a rumour but hopefully true! tooo... many... deejays!

some new weebl for ya:

also new banksy up at www.banksy.co.uk

Learnt soundforge YEARS ago when I was looking for a program to record my decks. its a wicked little unit. its really not hard to use at all, but yep, its not mac..

oooh, my sister has just got the new G4 or whatever it is, the little pod thing with a pole and a RAD flatscreen monitor, oh my god, sexy little thing.

C U Soon! i'm back for easter, lets hook up for sure!

Right-o, maybe see you on the weekend? I cant be arsed to bring any tunes back with me though, have you got some?
