What is the problem with celebrating our own country's main tradition (ie. christmas) without 'downgrading' it in so-called 'respect' for other cultures?!!!  I'm just as respectful as the next person if a particular culture/religious group wants to enjoy their new year or other calendar events but this news is ridiculous. COME ON!  Note: I'm an athiest, not a muslim, and I equally respect others' various religions/beliefs even if I don't agree with them.  I know Dissy will probably find this all annoying too - hahahaha!  We can help support other cultures to celebrate their special days in many ways but NOT by watering down our own - that's just plain stupid.

I'm originally Iranian (although I hate to admit it these days) but I don't give a shit if this country celebrates Christmas more than any other religious or cultural event - what do you expect?! It's a Christian state (or something like that)!  Does this country want to lose its identity (if it does) just to 'fit' other cultures in? NO!  Not to such an extent that we're practically being WALKED over as if we were a bloody door mat!  This is completely unnecessary and uncalled for!  *headdesk*

I wish these so-called 'think-tanks' would stop thinking such ridiculous things and think something USEFUL for a change.  I dislike think-tanks and quango's.  Rubbish that tax payers are, well, paying for!   And actually, who exactly is in this think-tank anyway?!!!  I, for one, would like to know.

Anyway, don't we don't help celebrate other events enough already?  If not, I would like to know how we can all help. :)  for example, there's always Chinese new year celebrations and Diwali was celebrated in a lovely fashion in Trafalgar Square.  :)  I'm not sure of my facts in regard to just how many special days there are out there for each and every religion and we can't possibly cater for all, AND we DO help to celebrate others festivals as it is, no?  Tell me if I'm wrong in any shape or form.

Last but not least, I don't mind helping to celebrate with others because, well, hey, any excuse for a party, right? :-D
