I spent three hours with him today because the place was hoppin! Truckers, townies, hard workin' folk, execs, soccer moms... what a huge variety of people and most of them were really really nice and very supportive of Ed's endeavor. Ed called me about 2 hours I left to thank me and to tell me I did a great job. He hardly realized I was there and before he could tell me what to do I was cashing people out. He had a line about 5 people deep! They come in waves and at several points, waves so full that you can't get through the driveway.
Found out that we won't work in the rain, so that's a relief. I'll have some built in days off that way :) I have to make sure that I leave myself enough time to clean up between peddling weenies and seeing clients. It's rather dusty/dirty in that spot. I didn't notice that my clothes smelled of weenies much which is good, but there may be days when I have to do more of the cooking :P
I really like the care Ed takes in his food though. He has probe thermometers in the coolers, on the grill, and in the steamer with alarms set so that the meats are kept cold enough and cooked hot enough. He keeps it as clean as you can in a dirt driveway. I worry when people pull through that the dust will make a not so tasty condiment, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. The cart itself is really neat! It even has a sink!!
