Not knowing he's... got experience chasing fleeing people, Hazuki suddenly finds herself jumping on to a fire escape and moving up with a very unamused glance back in Shizuo's direction.
She swears- if someone tries to come after him and gets her because of it-]
As it was, though- once she'd reached the roof and was out of street view, she did stop. She had faith in her ability to evade him, but- one opportunity for a different solution was not too illogical a thought.
Though her gaze read only as "keep your distance"]
[Distance was something he could do. Once told to talk, he took a moment. Not to catch his breath; it'd take a hell of a lot more to wind him.
More to decide what to say. It had been more instinct to follow, like a dog after a squirrel. So charged and confused after the fall, instinct had been easier than anything else.]
[Her gaze remains cold- or maybe just distant. Something like that, as she draws back to him, and finally crosses her arms across her chest, instead of keeping a hand hovered at her side.]
[He has no reason to doubt it. He'd been honest; he assumed the same for her. What that did mean, though, was that she'd been running for some other reason.
Cowardice, he figures. He can't stand cowards.
Shizuo turns away, preparing to hop down the fire escape and return to the scene.]
[Thankfully for her "feelings", Hazuki has no problem with what he believes- as long as he doesn't go around telling people she had anything to do with this.
Which is why she's following him. A good few steps behind, but.
It's much less suspicious to travel street level, now that he wasn't identified as a threat- right now.]
[He may be lacking in... well. But if he has anything, it's sharp instinct, if often abnormally applied. Now, it's a standard, a lingering alert from the fall, the alien city, everything.
Halfway back to the library, he stops, looking over his shoulder.]

Running makes the guy look guilty. Though he's running as well.]

[Finally:]
Why were you running?

So she just eyes him, her own breaths likewise in no need of catching- but moxubustion incense smell did make her nose wrinkle briefly.
She'd picked the wrong time for nostalgia. As... if she would ever be nostalgic.]
- Why did you chase me?

Because you were running.

Looks like you started a fire, too.

[Looks over his shoulder at the blaze. He shakes his head.]
...That wasn't me.
[...lighting the cigarette.]

It wasn't me, either.
