Woo!
Santa Cruz was sooo much fun. We began at 5 in the morning on Friday waking up at the crack of dawn to get ready and leave on our journey! We pilled all out crap into Brad's little bug and hoped along. On the way there we saw a truck carrying pigeons with a sign on the back reading "*Some Small Town* Pigeon Racing Team". How many people see that everyday? We also saw a lot of graff and some freight trains with more paintings.
We stopped off at Berkeley since Brad got a little lost but it was all right. It was about 8-8:30. I called some people then me Joe and Brad got out our kites and went flying. Joe's sooo incredibly good at flying it's not even funny, he was second best in the nation when he used to fly a lot. We had some sick kite wars and just goofed around then pilled back into the bug of death.
We pulled up to Santa Cruz, man it was nice and cold! I was so used to the 110+ degree weather. Santa Cruz felt like home. First thing we did was go stop by some taco shop and eat some FIRE HOT tacos... then we pulled into a gas station and shop and tried to fix Brad's brakes since they were a bit squeaky. Then it was surfing time so we drove to one beach but it was waaay too crowded so we ended up leaving and going to Capitola and surfed there.
Brad flew as me and Joe surfed. We got some all right waves, the swell was pretty small but it was fun none the less. After surfing for about 4-5 hours we were dead tired and went and changed into some dry clothes.
After surfing we grabbed our kites and walked around on the beach, it was fun. We flew til it got dark and got back to the car around 9 or so.
It was around 9 or 10 so we went and got some dinner on the pier. Me and Joe got the best clam chowder of our lives, it was served in bread carved out like a bowl. Brad got a huge hamburger and after we finished those off we walked down to the boardwalk to check out the action there.
We were going to ride some virtual reality roller coaster thing but the people ahead of us puked so they gave us our money back and we left. After crusing the boardwalk we hoped in the bug and drove around a bit. We stopped at a light in front of some club and the hottest girl I've EVER seen in my life with her 4 other drunk girl friends shouts out "Look! Surfer boys!" and all I could seem to mutter out was a quiet "Hey". We drove off knowing we didn't stand a chance in hell seeing how they were 21+ and drop dead gorgeous. We were pretty tired after a long day of surfing, flying and just kickin back. So we decided to go down to 4th mile which is 4 miles out of Santa Cruz and set up camp and just chill.
We pulled up and walked down this deadly rock/dirt hill thing. There were already about 3-4 other people with tents set up. We took out sleeping bags and surf boards down into this cove like area. I wish I had my camera because it was so beautiful down there. That was the best sleep of my life down there. We were right on the beach, the waves practically nipping at our feet. It was so nice. Me and Joe woke up to one of the other campers getting into a drunken fight about something over one of their girlfriends. Although we couldn't see anything in the dark we could hear them. We all kept waking up whenever a big wave would crash because we thought it was literally going to land on us. After waking up around 8:30 we got out and went to go surf before we had to leave.
We got a $100 parking ticket for camping over night but it was all good. We went down to Capitola and surfed a bit more and Brad flew. Then we pilled back into the bug and drove home.
All in all it was a GREAT trip, I had soooo much fun. I would definitely do that again. My back is sore, my arms are like rubber and my balls HURT so bad. But it was all worth while.
