I just finished reading The Five People You Meet In Heaven. I wasn't really that psyched about it but I figured that, since it's only 200 pages, I would give it a shot and at the very least get another book under my belt. I spent most of the book liking it, wanting to know what was going to happen next, but not being particularly moved. I didn't feel all that emotionally bonded to it, but I could see how it would make a good movie and how it could have received good reviews.
But then I got to the end. While the ending didn't totally make up for the sometimes redundant message of the story, it just grabbed me in a way I didn't expect. I can tell that the ending has done to me exactly what the author intended it to do. At some point during the book he says something about how the only mistake that a person can make is thinking that he is alone. And right now, even if it only lasts for the few minutes at my conclusion of the novel, I actually feel less alone. Wow, I feel so manipulated. Haha.
Speaking of Mitch Albom, didn't he get busted for making up some events that he wrote about in an article one time?
