Top 5 reasons I don't belong in my office
I'm working in the office of a Petroleum Consulting Company, and boy am I out of place.
1. Hello, physics degree. Petroleum engineering not my field.
2. I have dreads and tattoos. I wear head wraps to cover my dreads and am careful with my clothes.
3. I'm a woman in the boy's world of science/engineering.
4. I am a tree hugging liberal. There are people here with x-mas postcards from bush. [shudder]
5. I hate sitting at a computer all day. Though I'm sure this doesn't set me apart all that much. I can't imagine why people keep these kinds of jobs for so long.
To remedy this problem, I am looking for jobs. Top of my list for cool jobs at the moment: head shop, rape and abuse crisis center, library, and coffee shop.
I wish I could just volunteer for a living. But that's kind of a contradiction in terms. [sigh]
