Henry hadn't noticed anything when he came in that morning, not really, just that it sounded like there were more birds than usual in the trees. Really... weird sounding birds. Almost a metallic sound to the chirping.

It wasn't until later when he looked out the window and saw that most of the trees seems to have flashes of silver in them that Henry realized he should probably double check projects and see who was planning on artificial birds.

He wasn't prepared for what he found in Doctor Monium's lab.

"Toasters? Doctor, you made flying toasters?"

"Panda, please. And yes, but I only started with the pair, but they have a swift and fierce breading cycle apparently," the woman said quickly. The shiny silver toaster that was flapping about on the desk beside her suddenly stopped, then the lever popped and out shot a very tiny toaster with very tiny, fluffy, white wings. The woman blushed and smiled happily at the little thing as it fluttered about her head. "See. Remarkable really. Two and a half minutes after mating, and offspring appear."

"Two and a half minutes? The town will be over run!" After the singing thing, this was not something he wanted to deal with. How do you explain an infestation of flying toasters to the town government?

"Oh, no. See, they have to reach full maturity, which can take six to eight hours. And then they can only mate once every four after that and always produce only one offspring. Currently, there's only a dozen or... four?"

Four dozen flying toasters, of which at least half were either reproducing or going to in the next few hours. And they had escaped from the labs.

"I have to go... call someone," he said as he walked out of the lab.

[here you go, FLYING TOASTERS!]
