After spending the weekend, as well as several days before it working like a fiend, Isabel was grateful for a few days off. She'd spend Monday cleaning the apartment, doing laundry and trying not to think about Dean. They'd only been casual acquaintances, but Isabel respected him and the work he did. She was also trying hard not to think about

Jarod had a brief moment of panic when the rain smelled not like rain. But it didn't seem to burn his skin. He was trying not to get any of it in his mouth, but enough got in to loosen him up a bit.

Jarod as yet had no tolerance for alcohol.

Relaxing on the bench, Isabel watched.

Hmm, that was a somewhat pleasant buzzing sensation. And now he recognized the smell. It was raining liquor?

"Hello." he smiled at Isabel. "Unusual weather we're having. Or does it do this often?"

[desertaliengirl]

Isabel shook her head. "First time that I've seen anything like it." At least here in Millieux.

"It smells like liquor." he said, still trying not to get any in his mouth. But not trying as hard as he had been. "But I don't know what kind."

[desertaliengirl]

"I'm pretty sure it's tequila," she replied. "Which makes sense since it's Cinco de Mayo."

"Is the 5th of May significant?"

[desertaliengirl]

"It is," Isabel nodded. "It's a Mexican holiday. Unfortunately I don't know the exact reason. I think a battle or something. But it's been hijacked by the beer companies as an excuse to drink a lot."

Jarod would have to look that up. "Do beer companies need an excuse to drink a lot?"

[desertaliengirl]

"Beer companies need an excuse to sell beer," she explained.

[notreallya]

"Making money isn't a good enough reason for them? Maybe they're in the wrong business."

[desertaliengirl]

"No, they just want to make more money."

[notreallya]

"Oh I see. It's sort of like how candy companies have co-opted Easter."

[desertaliengirl]

"Ding Ding Ding!" Isabel clapped. "You've got it. It's all about the bottom line."

[notreallya]

"I'll try not to let it keep me from enjoying the holidays. Are there any more coming up?"

[desertaliengirl]

"Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July," she replied, ticking them off on her fingers.
