Danny had escaped the Mitchell household, but just barely. It was a good thing too, because if he had to help with one more batch of Christmas cookies, he might of done something unforgivable. Like throw a tray across the room while pitching a fit.

Really. There were only so many trees and stars a guy could decorate before he went insane.

Dani felt a need to get out of her room, so she found herself walking through the park. The weather certainly didn't bother her since she had brand new boots, an early Christmas present from Daddy.

Danny chuckled and waved to Dani when he saw her. "Still working to upstage me as the most fashionable in town?"

"If there's a competition, I intend to win," said Dani with a grin. "Besides, I need something to keep me busy during the break."

"At least they're not made of duct tape. Are you sticking around, or going to see family?"

[runswiththeboys]

Dani winced slightly. "Hell no. Daddy is taking off for Hawaii with his latest girlfriend and my brother is going skiing with my ex-boyfriend. I'd much rather stay here. How about you?"

"I'm here for break. The Mitchells decided to stick around too, so..." Danny shrugged and smiled. "Happy times."

"And yet you're out here instead of joining all the holiday fun?" asked Dani.

"I'm really not feeling the holiday spirit right now," he admits.

"Oh, come on. How can you not enjoy oodles of gingerbread cookies and lots of eggnog?" asked Dani. She paused for a moment, then added, "Actually, scratch that. I'm feeling sick just thinking about eggnog. The only good thing about Christmas are the presents."

"I hate eggnog, and it's a bit much when you're used to spending the holidays alone."

Dani chuckled. "Yeah, once you start giving sugar cookies to the rugrats, I bet they go crazy. What does your family usually do for the holidays?"

"They don't really celebrate. When my parents remember we do a gift or two, otherwise they're working."

"Sounds a little bit like my dad. When he remembers, the gifts are awesome, but most of the time he's off chasing another supermodel," said Dani.
