It couldn't be a tradition if they'd only done it once before, but Isabel supposed it could be the start of one. She hadn't seen Anders, Sam, and damn hard to remember that, since before she'd gotten stuck dreamwalking. Somehow, given the dream of his that she'd wandered through, she had a feeling they had a lot to talk about ( Read more... )

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

So what better way to start the day then with a pile of syrup on something?

Still waiting for Sam and frustrated by the puzzle, Isabel glanced around.

And raised a curious eyebrow at the amount of syrup on the guy's plate.

There's also a lot of syrup on his hands, the table and his pants.

In Howard's defense this is because somebody loosened the top on the syrup pitcher and it dropped off as he was pouring.

He's sitting there with his hands held limply over the table trying not to touch anything to make the mess worse while waiting for the waitress to come back with some wet rags.

He hopes nobody notices him, but of course somebody has and of course it's a beautiful woman.

"Hi." He says non-nonchalantly as if nothing is amiss.

"Hi," she said, trying hard not to laugh too much. "Had a bit of an accident?"

"Uh... small one yeah." He said looking down at himself. "Howard Moon. Nice to meet you... I'd offer you my hand but ah... well..."

Isabel shrugged and held out her hand. "It's okay, I'm Isabel Evans, and syrup's not a problem for me."

Howard carefully reached over and shook her hand.

"Isabel does not have a problem with syrup. Duly noted."

Once the formalities were out of the way, and he'd released her hand, Isabel waved her clean hand over the syrup coated one. In a second or two, all the syrup was gone. "I could do the same if you'd like."

She reminded the little voice in her head that was pointing out that casual use of her powers was wrong that they weren't in Vegas any longer and that weirdness was acceptable here in town.

Howard blinks once but doesn't seem all that put off by it.

"Oh no thank you, the waitress will by shortly." He said. Without thinking, he ran a syrup covered hand through his hair.

"Well... Actually."

"It's not a problem, honestly," Isabel said, holding out her hand.

Howard held his hands up for her.

"Are you a shaman then?"

She passed her hands over his, dissolving the molecules of syrup until his hands were clean. "No, nothing mystical."

Isabel grinned, "It has it uses. I save a fortune on stain remover."

"Heh, I bet you never check labels for 'dry clean only'."

"Exactly."

"So what are you doing in Milieux?" she asked.
