Outside the Main Dorm, Saturday night
Lawrence, KS, to Milieux was 14 hour drive, one spent mostly in silence ever since they'd left home at 6 AM. Mary fumed in the backseat, refusing to respond to her mother's attempts at conversation, still to angry to have any sort of civil conversation.
They stopped only for gas, food, and bathrooms, and it was dark when they pulled into Milieux. Her father gave her a stiff hug, her mother a more tearful goodbye, and then they were gone, leaving her alone in her room. She unpacked a little, then wandered outside, not that there was much to see right now.
At least in this place, there'd be no hunting. No demons, no vampires, no shapeshifters, just blissful normalcy.
