Black Books / Saturday Morning

Fran's still awake, and while Manny and Bernard are asleep, she thought she'd keep it running. She sat by the door, keeping an eye outside, and waved cheerily to the emo police children out in the streets. It didn't occur to her that it was past early for children, but then, not much occured to Fran, ever.

At some point in the discussion, people were suddenly interrupted by a pounding on the door and small childrens' voices crying "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands mothafucka!"

Nadia's face snapped to the door.

She shrugged and clapped her hands, then made a grab for Walter to find another route out.

Shit! Walter grabbed Nadia's hand. If he had to, he could cut a hole in a wall, but that would be a bit of a dead giveaway which way they'd gone.

Nadia spotted a window over the sink. "This way!"

Walter threw the window open and jerked his head at Nadia. "Go! I'm right behind you."

Nadia didn't waste time. As soon as the window was open, she was vaulting through it. She hit the ground in a roll, then was on her feet and running before she looked back for Walter.

Walter was right behind her.

He just wasn't expecting someone to be waiting for them.

Tsk tsk. Two more in need of happification.

GIR waited for the boy to come through, since records said he was a bigger risk in the short term than the girl. She was smarter, he was just more destructive.

GIR was ready. GIR was in duty mode. GIR had had burritos for lunch!

A tentacle came down on the back of Walter's head the moment it stuck out the window and then wrapped around his throat to pull him the rest of the way out of the building.

"No!" Nadia changed direction as fast as she could, hurrying back to grab hold of the tentacle and pull it off Walter.

GIR had more tentacles where that one came from. Enough to be able to put one in Nadia's way while he slung the boy's limp body into a waiting paddywagon. He'd have to take care of his not-happy weaponry before he woke up.

Another pair of tentacles pulled out a slingshot and rubber piggy. Or was the piggy rubber? Nadia would find out if it hit her at high speed.

Affectively blocked by the tentacle, Nadia could only watch as Walter was taken away.

Time for . . . well, it wasn't a plan with a letter, just yet. But it was a plan, of sorts. . . .

"Hey, robot . . . thing,"

Pip clapped his hands. Then he clapped his other hand to the safety of the gun and flicked it off. "Bastards aren't taking me alive.

That was okay, the bastards didn't want him alive, not if he was unhappy. Their guns might look like toys, but watch out, they pack a hefty punch. . . .

Pip brought up his assault rifle and laid a stream of burst fire towards the cops.

It was almost like they didn't care. Despite some of them being blown to fine mist by the bullets, they kept barreling forward, into the flat, firing upon anyone they saw who wasn't smiling maniacally.

"Creepy little bastards," Pip muttered as he dove behind some crates, pulled out a knife, and sent it flying at them.
