After getting brought to work by Cole, Phoebe moved around the bar, setting things up.

She chatted with the band members and requested a few songs from them, before she went behind the bar and started straightening bottles and glasses.

After the last couple of weeks? Even Mac, who barely drinks, needed alcohol.

She leaned on the bar as she climbed onto the stool. "You have any pear cider back there?"

Phoebe gave her a surprised look. "Sure Mac," she said, opening a bottle and handing it to her.

Mac caught the surprise and shrugged. "I hear this works for some people," she said, taking the bottle. "Thanks, Phoebe."

The surprise became concern. "I have found it works. But.. sometimes even when I drink, it doesn't make things better since I'm an empath."

The look was clearly Phoebe asking her what was wrong.

"Kind of fortunate I don't have that problem, then," Mac said thoughtfully as she took a sip.

"I guess... no one's told you, then?" she continued, fiddling with her bottle. She was pretty sure if Phoebe knew Cally was missing, she wouldn't have that look, but she thought checking was probably a good idea.

"That Cally's missing." Mac stopped fiddling to look up at Phoebe. "I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks. No one has."

Phoebe went cold. "What? When was she last seen?"

Mac thought for a second. "Seventeen days," she said. It really doesn't take her long to calculate something like that.

"Left me a note saying she'd gone to get milk and was going to make me breakfast..." Mac shrugged, looking down at her bottle again. "And nothing, that's the last anyone's heard from her."

"You think that might work?" Mac said, jerking her head up to look at Phoebe again.

"If she's still on this planet I'll find her," she said with a nod.

And if she wasn't, well... there were ways to search those, too.

"I think anything is worth a try," Mac said, looking a little more hopeful. "I just... I want to know if she's okay."

"I'll start working on it as soon as I get off work tonight." She reached out and squeezed her hand. "We'll find her."

Mac shot a little smile at Phoebe, and squeezed back. "Thank you."
