If sulking was made a Monday morning requirement, X-23 would find herself unable to obey. True, there were so many 'despites' that she could cite, but it should be enough to say that she had glimpsed something good in her future; which was more than can be said about her life so far ( Read more... )

Connor wasn't exactly sulking. He was brooding, which was a slightly different vibe. It implied more thoughtfulness than sulking.

He thought he should maybe go home.

"Good, good." Yeah, no smell of any type of demon he'd ever encountered. Most likely there was some other explanation for her abilities. "What've you been up to?"

That was a hard question. "Not much," she replied, then, reminded of something. "I helped plant these," she gestured to the row of mounds.

X-23 nodded, lingering on that thought for a moment before turning to him. "You are not human," she stated.

The smile froze on his face, and his blood chilled for a moment. "Am so." he said defensively, though a clear memory of an anti-demon violence spell flinging him off a balcony told him that was a lie. The lie was as much trying to convince himself as anyone else.
