Connor had indeed fallen asleep, though he wasn't aware of it at first. He found himself wandering the library, reshelving books. His first clue that something was off was that the books were awfully well behaved ( ... )

He seemed to be in enough distress, looking like he was staring death in the face. Only, his eyes were closed so he was not really staring. X-23 wondered how she should wake him up. She was only ever woken up in one way. Placing her lips just beside his ears, she yelled, "WAKE UP!"

"Gaaaah!" Connor cried out, waking up, but with effort, as if he were struggling against something keeping him asleep.

He panted, for a moment, in his head, still a terrified five year old again. "Th-thanks." he said, catching his breath. "Uh, did you need help finding a book?"

X-23 jumped back a few steps back when he cried out, not quite feeling threatened, but still intently watching him from a distance. She relaxed after awhile, though still not coming back closer. "No," she answered simply.

He took a deep calming breath, going over the details of his dream carefully to store them. Funny how the other two were coming into sharper focus now too.

"Did you see anyone else in here?" he asked.

X-23 did not quite understand what had flustered him so much. She never woke up panting like that even when she had nightmares. He seemed genuinely distressed. Still watching him calmly, she replied, "no."

Connor looked around, calming himself more as he woke up. "Hmmm." Then he checked himself for wounds, finding only a tear in the sleeve of his shirt. "Thanks again. You might just have come in the nick of time." he said thoughtfully.

Slight confusion crossed her face as X-23 tilted her head to the side in question. She could see the tear, but it was not like she saved him from anything. Anything other than nightmares that is, and nightmares are not real. "You were sleeping," she stated.

"Yeah." he nodded. "And I was sleeping last night when I woke up beat all to hell. And now I remember dreaming about getting the crap beat out of me. I'm not sure but I think I'm starting to figure out what's going on."

"You were injured in your dreams," X-23 stated, though she meant it to be more of a question. He was not really making perfect sense. Perhaps he was still shaken by his nightmares, he did not seem particularly insane.

"I think so. The other day I found myself in the hallway of my dorm with cuts on my arms. No one's sure where they came from, but I think I remember that happening in a nightmare."

X-23 merely stared at him, not quite believing him but unwilling to argue about it. Instead, she took a few steps closer before speaking again. "You have heightened senses," she said.

He looked up at her, cautiously. "I've got good ears and nose, yeah." he said evasively. And that's when he noticed the scent. The same one he'd caught at the Guy Fawkes party.

That was confirmation enough for her. Standing right in front of the table, she gazed down at him, trying to intimidate. "Are you associated with Weapon X?"

He did not seem to be lying, but you never know. "Explain your heightened senses."
