It was so abnormal to Cassie just how warm it was here. November, and yet she can still be out and about in nothing more than jeans and a black shirt that really didn't have that much material to it

Connor decided that a good way to chase away the blues and dust out the sleep deprivation induced cobwebs was through creative exercise. If asked, he would refuse to admit that his decision to do so shirtless had anything to do with the fact that he spotted Cassie nearby.

Cassie was shamelessly, but subtly, ogling. As you do when there are shirtless people running around.

After flipping off the roof of the gazebo, Connor waved. "Hey Cassie."

"Connor," Cassie greeted, giving him a slow smile to go with her greeting. "Very... acrobatic," she remarked.

"Thanks, I try." he grinned. "I've always been a bit more athletic than most nerds."

"Obviously," Cassie said, losing the subtlty rather as she checked him out. "Keeps you in shape, I see."

The blatant checking him out surprised him, but, not unpleasantly. Maybe he wasn't the only one feeling a little like cutting loose a wee bit.

"It was always very useful in dodging the football team. And the lacross team. Well most of the jocks really."

"Jocks are usually boring," Cassie told him. "You did well to avoid them."

"You can sit, if you want," she said, gesturing at the grass beside her.

"Not all that pleasant either." Connor said, sitting beside her. "The company here is much nicer."

"Oh, I agree." She smiled across at him, she might've been approving of her current situation, she might've been thinking about this school in general. It's difficult to tell.

"Surprising for a place so far out of the way," Cassie said thoughtfully.

"Well I'm used to out of the way. Klamath California isn't exactly a bustling metropolis. How about you?"

"Leatherhead?" Cassie said, subtly leaning closer to him. "Please, it was hardly the center of the universe. This is just... even more middle-of-nowhere, that's all."

Connor did not move away. He realized that there was something he'd liked about her, that he didn't notice until now that he liked. She was normal. For Connor Reilly Bellatrix was great because she was exotic. Connor Angel had slept with the girlfriend of his own Vampiric father, who had super powers and also had turned out to be possesed by a possibly evil demi-god.

So normal was a refreshing change. Silly boy.

"This place is, about the same size as home, except more closely packed. Plus if you want to go to the city it's like, ten minutes away. Did you have fun on Halloween?"

Cassie nodded. "I did, actually," she said. "I wasn't really expecting to, but... " She shrugged, brushing her arm against his. "People can be surprising."

"What did you wind up doing?" subtly leaning in, brushing her arm with his.

"Went out to the party at All Souls," she replied, her fingers trailing up his arm. "It was a... successful evening."
