Lana was kind of surprised that Dean hadn't called her back yesterday, but she'd figured that maybe he'd just crashed and slept through till morning. When he hadn't called by lunchtime, she'd been concerned and left him a messageThen she decided to keep herself busy by going out to plant some of the things she'd special ordered that had come in

Sam had only gotten Lana's message after his Combat Marksmenship class and he hurried over to the house as soon as he got it.

The fact that Lana was gardening made him suspect that things were okay, but his brother's car wasn't there, so he was still a bit concerned. "Lana? I just now got your message. What's up?"

Lana looked up and immediately blushed, feeling terrible about what had happened the other day. "Hey Sam. Um... Dean tricked me into letting him out of the closet and then as soon as I was asleep he took off to go kill Lex. I heard from him yesterday though. It had really worn off and he said he was going to get some rest and then come home."

She checked her phone just in case she'd missed a call. "We got cut off though and I haven't heard from him yet today so I'm a little worried again."

"So you're... you know... back to you again?" Sam asked, keeping his distance just in case. "Is Dean coming back today?"

"I am," she said, blushing even more. "And Sam, I'm so terribly, terribly sorry. I would never do something like that to you or Dean and I feel just horrible about it.

She sighed. "He said he should be back sometime today, but I can't reach him."

"He might not hear his phone if he's driving and has the radio turned up." Sam said, a little flustered. "And... it's okay. I know it wasn't really you."

Lana nodded. "Yeah, I'm trying not to get too freaked out about it. I'm just surprised he didn't try to call me back yesterday after we got cut off. But..." She shrugged. "He was so exhausted. Maybe he just totally crashed."

Sam nodded. "He does that sometimes after a few stressful days. I'm sure he's fine."

Lana swallowed hard and nodded. "That's what I'm hoping," she said. "Just... after everything that happened... I just hope he really was better and that he's not off after Lex after all."

"Dean's not stupid," Sam assured her. "Now that he's not all crazy with rage, he won't put himself in a bad situation."

At least Sam hoped that was the case.

"Yeah," Lana said, not completely convinced. "Hopefully."

"You need help with anything?" Sam asked, gesturing at the flowers. "I've got a lot of experience digging."

"Well, I'm trying to put in these juniper bushes to either side of each door," Lana said. "Wouldn't mind a little help with that if you had some time."

Sam smiled. "Sure, I'm done with class."

"Wonderful," Lana said with a smile. "What would take me the whole afternoon to do will probably take you an hour."

"Where can I find a good shovel?" Sam asked. "Since Dean's car is gone."

She pointed to the pile of supplies lying in front of the porch. "I have a regular planting arsenal here," she said with a smile.
