After her fight with Sousuke, Kaname ran. She didn't have a destination in mind just the very pressing need she felt get away. She ran until the wind had dried the tears on her face and her adrenaline gave out on her. It eventually registered that she was in the park. It had taken awhile for the anger to fade into a dull sense of resignation. He couldn't change things that had already happened, no matter what he wished he'd done.

And then the guilt started creeping in. There'd been no reason to take his own anger and frustration out on Kaname. Of course she thought sparing Leonard's life was the right thing to do. She was a kind person, she didn't want people to die on her behalf, no matter how much he thought they deserved it.

He didn't want her to be afraid of him. He knew how that felt, and he never wanted to experience it again.

So he got up and started searching for her, finally finding her in the park. His first instinct was to admonish her for coming to such a place alone, at night, but he held back. Instead, he sat down on the end of the bench.

"Kaname." There wasn't any anger left in his voice, just concern.

Kaname sat, head in her lap, arms wrapped around her knees, shoulders occasionally moving with the tears. She shook her head and murmured an unconvincing, "Go away." She didn't want him to see her like this.

He wasn't going to go away. "I shouldn't have yelled at you. You were right." Not that he could make her forgive him, but at least he could admit the mistake.

That was for the best. If he had tried, she would have reached out and grabbed him with the speed and precision of a slumbering Anne Rice vampire.

Reluctantly she raised her head to look at him. It took an effort of shoving her pride to the back and not thinking about how miserable she must have looked at that moment. "No, you shouldn't have, you jerk," she attempted to glare at him through her tears, "How do you think it makes me feel knowing he's out there? Happy? I'm not stupid! It scares me, Sousuke! And the last thing I need is you shouting at me about it!"
