Nick thought her heard the sound of fire crackling, so he ran over quickly to see what was going on.

The gnomes had managed to put the last of the flames out by this point. If they noticed Nick, they gave no indication and just kept about their work, dragging miscellaneous bits of alien looking machinery off the lawn and into the shed.

Nick blinked a few times, then picked his way up to the front door when he started banging on it. "Sheriff, is everyone alright in there?"
