Elena jumped a little. "Um... I'm new in town," she said. "I'm looking for the local motel until I can find a place of my own."

"I thought you might be," Meryl said. She shifted her paperwork to one arm. "You look like I did when I got here. I think the only hotel here is the Bates Motel. There are a couple of apartment complexes as well if you want something more permanent."

"The hotel will be okay for a few days until I have time to look at the apartments," Elena said. "I'm going to be teaching at the school here."

Meryl reached into her cloak and began to root around in her pockets before pulling out a map. "Here, this might help," she said.

"Thank you so much," Elena smiled. "I'm Elena Michaels."

"Meryl Stryfe," Meryl said. "I run the branch office of the Bernardelli Insurance Society."

"Good," Meryl said. "How open is your mind?"

Elena stiffened slightly. "I think I'm pretty open-minded."
