Phoebe woke up with a headache and feeling sore from going through the wall -- but she was alive and feeling much better.

She sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed.

"Piper?"

Sam had fallen asleep by her bedside hours ago, but the movement stirred him to wakefulness. He was still scratched up and dirty from the accident the night before, and still didn't give a damn about those details.

He blinked groggily and reached a hand out to her. "Oh, thank frak, babe . . . you're awake."

"She's in the next room," Sam said, closing his fingers over her hand. "She's gonna be okay. And so are you."

Sam swallowed and squeezed her hand. "But he didn't kill you. And he hasn't come back here since I got here. Cole . . . went looking for him."

He knew she wouldn't take that news well, but he couldn't lie to her.

Sam was silent for a moment, his genuine fear for her safety warring with his confidence that she could handle herself.

"I know," he said finally, looking up and into her eyes. "I'm scared to frakking death of what might happen to you, but I can't ask you to not go."

Piper was still a little sore from being thrown through a wall, but she was feeling surprisingly a lot better. It was almost like a whitelighter had healed her. Or possibly the blood of a girl who can regenerate. Whichever.

She was feeling better enough to leave the clinic. She had to go find Paige, after all.

"A remarkable recovery," he said, looking at her chart.
