Flight 101, Friday 1/23

Jan 23, 2009 08:43

Murdock had the SERF all set up to resemble a hanger. Scattered about were various types of aircraft, ranging from small cessenas to a DC-3. There was even a chopper or two thrown in.

"Alrighty kids!" Yes, he could totally say kids, hush. "We ain't actually going to be flyin' today, disappointin' I know, but I think it's better if y'all go over the basics of aircraft control. You'll note that the planes are all basically the same, just some have more instruments than others. Same for the choppers. The principles of flyin' don't change much from one aircraft to another."

He wandered around the hanger, ducking underneath planes as he went. "However, there is a difference in how they handle due to their size. A cessena is easier to control and manuevers faster than a DC-3, but the cessena can get knocked around more by lesser winds. And no two planes are alike. Just like cars, they'll each have their own quirks." He grinned, "That's somethin' you'll learn as you go along."

"So! Climb in a plane, check out the controls and just make yourselves feel comfortable. Today it's all about familiarizing ourselves with the aircraft. And have fun," he added with a smirk.
