Monday, Period One : Demonology
Phoebe was sitting on the end of her desk as the students came in. Once everybody was seated, she smiled and stood up.
"Welcome to Demonology. My name is Phoebe Halliwell-Turner and I'm your teacher for the course. Feel free to just call me Phoebe. Most of you took my last class, but I do see a few new faces; so, let me give you a quick rundown of the class and my credentials for teaching such a class." She gave a small smile. "First, in case you have any doubts, demons are very real. I know this from experience. I'm a witch and for the last twelve years I have spent most of my life meeting demons and fighting with them. I have met a few good demons, but most of them have been of the evil "I'm going to kill me a witch or sacrifice an innocent" variety." She tilted her head. "I can tell you that I have met a few of the demons that we'll be discussing by name and most of the written knowledge is wrong or incomplete. For instance, I have met Lucifer and the worst thing he ever did to me was refuse to serve me alcohol because I was a minor at the time." She grinned. "At the time, I thought that was just plain evil. I have fought the Source of All Evil with my sisters not once, but twice and both times we defeated him." Phoebe stumbled a little over those words.
"Now then, I tend to get a bit wordy and opinionated when discussing this topic, and I would suggest that you either be good at taking notes, have a tape recorder, or feel confident enough to let me know if I am going too fast for you. I have no problems slowing down or answering questions, and I am a firm believer in class discussions and debate. My main rule is that you respect me and each other when the debate gets heated." She gestured to Sam. "Sam Winchester is my TA. If I'm not around and you need clarification on an assignment or on a discussion, he's plenty capable of helping you with that."
She leaned back against the edge of her desk.
"Okay, since there will be a lot of discussions and opinions in class, I'd like you all to introduce yourselves and tell me what you know or think you might know of the topic at hand. Give me your name and the name of a demon you think you know a lot about or that you would like to know about. I'll go first. I'm Phoebe and the demon I know the most about is Belthazor." Come on, if she named any other demon she'd be lying. "Who's next?"
