Free DC!

Apr 17, 2007 19:43

I just have to put a note here saying that my heart and soul goes out to all the VT students who had to live through what they did.  I can't even imagine being in that position or anywhere near it, and I think that, despite all the negative media, the campus police, etc, did exactly what they should have done.  I don't have any experience in that field, but I honestly think that they did the best they could.  I just don't understand the mind of the shooter.  He doesn't make sense to me, but the again neither do harmful weapon users in general.

Despite winds at 20 to 30 miles an hour yesterday, thousands of people gathered in front of the Wilson building yesterday to march for DC voting rights.

I was with them!  I've never really been part of a rally of that scale before, and I gotta say, it was great.  Plus, my picture was on the front page of the Metro section of the Washington Post this morning:

I'm the one in the purple jacket holding the "students for D.C. vote" sign.  My best friend is on the right with the "DC Vote: It's about time" sign, and two other girls from our school are on the left, both with their mouths wide open.  I love that we're the only ones yelling and everyone else has their mouths shut...
