On the road to Baikal

Feb 12, 2024 14:36

I am finally on my way to Irkutsk to start 5 days trip around lake Baikal.

There is no good direct flight I could take, so I took overnight train to neighbor city of Novosibirsk and will fly from there. Funny, but there was faster option for same price, but it would mean 3 hours flight to Moscow and then 4 hours flight back. You can guess why I opted for train.

I also took opportunity to take photos of Omsk railroad station. So this post is about it.

Tickets area. Really beautiful, do you agree? I never went here because I always buy them over internet.

View from second floor, where I headed to waiting area. Those chandeliers scare me, I can easily imagine one of them falling down. And there is a small waiting area right under closest one.

Just a window in waiting area. It is just rows of chairs here.

And boarding is open. This is central area, to the right is city entrances, to the left trains.

Can you guess, which car has that big line in distance?
That's right, mine.

I have time to walk a bit away and take some more photos.

I am on upper seat. People are already settling in for sleep, so I did my best not to photo anyone.

lang: en, vacation
