A day out in park

Jan 04, 2019 00:23

Weather have warmed up some, up to -10 during day, so Kostya and I took a chance to have a long walk in the park, that is said to hold main city's New Year tree this year, as well as a skating ring going along some alleys. We went close to evening, so that we will not only walk through the winter forest, but have a chance to see all lights up, before temperature will drop too much for the night.
Well, that was a bit of let-down. The walk itself was very nice, it was snowing a little and as we went on, crowds from central alley have thinned until there were barely any people around. We passed a high wooden slide and an area where you could play and take photos with husky dogs and ride dog-sleighs. There were a lot skiers waving among the trees and we were overtaken by some bicycle riders. Then we made a great circle by the lake and came out at a different skating ring - not the rumored alley one. And then we were back at the central alley.
It was getting darker so illumination should be obvious, but... There was only New Year tree and one merry-go-round lit up and a few random lights over one side alley. It was also was getting colder, so Kostya put me on the bus and stayed to wait for his own one.

Here is the mentioned New Year tree.

On a bus I have warmed up some, so I left it while still in the center of the city and took a short walk down to the river, because there is one alley that usually is decorated quite well. It wasn't this year, but I still had a nice look around and took some photos.

Three photos of the walk down that street:

I passed through the ark in the previous photo and went some distance along the river, but is was getting colder, so I cut my walk short.

Standing on the bus stop waiting for my bus. Fortunately it wasn't that far away, but I still had time for some photos. And a nudge from my work, asking me to get online tomorrow.
