I slept in until 11:00 am (didn't have to feel any temps in the teens today... no-sir-ree!!). Went down to Starbucks and the Union Ave Post Office. Did my thing there. Went to Arkansas for cheap gas. Came back across the river and admired the Memphis skyline on a beautiful sunny day...
Got off the freeway and 93 x announced a spontaneous Egypt Central acoustic gig at Spin Street... 3pm... as well as giving away a "Sonic Rush" Nintendo DS videogame and perhaps a shot at a $93 gift card there.Had enough time to swing by Huey's for a club sandwich. Then progressed to Spin Street where they had a Rock, Scissors, Paper tournaments for the game (copies given away every 9 mins). Guess who won? :D Guess who found the $93 gift card!? *struts*
So I saw EC live. Four songs and they finally did "Home" for the first time since I've been seeing them. They gave me their audience the big announcement re: being invited to do the MTV documentary about the music industry hardships and how they've weathered getting dropped from their label, etc.
So I talked to John and Joey, and let both of them know how much people I know enjoy their stuff. Came home, showered. Then mom took me back downtown, to Texas de Brazil, and my request for my graduation dinner out. It's a yummy militaristic place where I dined on twelve different types of meats and the largest Salad Bar this side of the Mississippi (that's not in the Peabody Buffet and at the Tunica Casinos). Thanks, Mom. I'm stuffed.
Thus I'm home now.
Zoom, victory lap complete. Woo!
