Interesting is the frailty of mortal minds. To read a book from a mortal man specializing in trying to fix the shattered pieces of teenaged brains is almost amusing, considering he devotes his life to something that will simply never cease. You can coach a broken brain, but the mortal brain yearns to twist and contort, so why bother to fix it? Trigger it. Allow them to revel in the insane pits that the suffering their own put them through begot.
Honestly, why attempt to fix a child whose defensive mechanism is to hurt oneself? Mortals are pathetic in most respects anyway, but such a creature is purely damaged beyond all hope. There is no way to fix that; you can coach to stave off the inevitable, but there's always a trigger lying in wait. Like a sleeper waiting for his or her hidden command from a government official on high, these fractured mortals wait for the trigger to start their self-destructive ways again.
I need some reading recommendations. This book has lost its charm. Hm.
