There have been thunderstorms on and off all day, which I took as a divine signal to take today completely off. It's frustrating how the work-all-the-time mentality gets into your head in grad school. Especially since by now, I know for a fact that after 7 pm, I'll probably get the same amount of things done if I leave at 8 as if I leave at 10. Ditto working on the weekends: I was in all of yesterday afternoon, so if I went in today, it would have been for maybe two or three hours to finish something up. And yet the guilt is still there, although I've mostly squashed it. I think what did it was remembering that last week was Spring Break, so I deserve at least a day off.
Today, I had a lazy morning and breakfast with Glen, then did laundry, screwed around on the internet (very important for mental well-being, don't you know), went to the library, went grocery shopping, read, and made steak with a red wine-lemon-cream sauce, potatoes with lemon and rosemary, and peas. Very satisfactory. I think tonight I'll watch America's Next Top Model and re-sew some of the loose buttons on my nice wool coat. It's so nice just to spend a day doing personal things.
