Vignette: The Week of the Flying Furniture

Who: Milani
When: Post-furniture droppings.
What: Milani muses on flying furniture.

First it had been A'son's bed frame. The very same bed frame that Milani herself had picked out so carefully for him and arranged the joke presentation to answer the flipping of her desk.

Milani still wasn't sure if it was the joke, the gift or some whim that had seen the bronzerider flipping mattress and frame right off of his ledge. Whatever the reason, it didn't really bode well, but she hadn't found a moment to talk to A'son about it yet. She'd had the staff clean up the mess, take the pieces to see what could be done. One thing was certain, it wasn't going to be a bed again, but the wood could be re-cut to make something else, Lessom assured her with far too much sympathy in his eyes.

She kept her smile bright and her manner brisk when dealing with the former bedframe around the staff. They gave her enough meaningful looks about the whole thing as it was, no need to add more fuel to that fire.

And then Kelerith and Yyth tossed all of P'ax' stuff out. That at least, was a pretty straightforward matter. It wasn't going to be anything fancy for replacements, but she could at least make sure P'ax had somewhere to sit, eat and work. It wasn't really her place to make any remarks to P'ax about Yyth's behavior or to Eila about Kelerith's. She could imagine though that it had only been some kind of game to the blue. She couldn't be so sanguine about the green.

Still, she had the papers signed off and ready to go to liberate some things from stores to go to P'ax' weyr. The other paper, the one under her fingers right now, was still unsigned. The end of her pen tapped lightly against one side of the quarter-sheet. Should she try again, or not? Would it just lead to another bedframe and mattress taking flight across the Bowl only to smash dangerously below?

Milani sighed, put her pen down and rubbed at her temples.
What was he thinking?

She stared at the paper for a little while longer then quietly tucked it away into a drawer.
Maybe later.
