Pato was recently quoted as saying he only has eye's for the fantastic milan, but before he talks to Leonardo who is in Porto Alegre and on Monday will start talking to the club and Pato's agent.
In an article from Channel 4 Pato was quoted as saying to the spanish newspaper 'AS' and several other brazilian media.
“Milan are flying over to Brazil to sign me? That is fantastic,” and “I won’t be meeting with their emissaries unless Internacional and my agent Gilmar Veloz give me the go ahead. All I can do is wait and hope.”
Now since it was in AS I don't really know how much we can believe considering that they were also the ones that were insisting that Kaka was going to go to Real, but seeing as it was also reported by other brazilian media I think we can hold onto our glimer of hope that we will in fact make a splash in the transfer market after all. Milan are currently in pole position offering 14 million Euro for the young starlet beating out rivals Inter, Real Madrid, and Chelsea. It would be a similar scenario to the capture of Kaka in 2003, when Leonardo also acted as their representative to broker the deal. In fact, Kaka’s presence is an important factor for Pato, as his family is very religious and wants to ensure there is a positive role model when he flies to Europe alone. Pato will be given a five-year contract starting out at £800,000 per season, rising to £1.3m by 2011-12.
