Very excited about this LJ app for my phone, but it just means I'll be distancing myself from the real computer even more.
If you watch me on Facebook you'll know about my three new fish. Their names are Wasabi, Ginger, and Kikko. Kikko is a ryukin goldfish and the others are comet goldfish. Depending on how much I feed them, Wasabi and Ginger could end up being a foot a piece! So as much as I'd love just one more ryukin, I'd have to get another tank. I don't think my sister really thought about how much responsibility taking care of fish is when we went to the fair. Luckily I had already studied a good bit about them before I decided to try to catch one. I really do love my fish. It's weird, I never thought I would love a pet that I cannot pet. I guess I really was that lonely. The sound of the water gently flowing through the filter helps me sleep too.
Kikko is the newest member of the tank. I'm calling her a she, but I really can't tell at all. She's beautiful to look at and follows my finger around. She also tries to be fancy by swimming backwards, but that might also be a sign that the plant are too close together. Kikko is much bigger than Wasabi and Ginger by a good three inches. I can't believe they will outgrow her!
Wasabi is hilarious to watch. In the vase he could look out better but the huge tank makes him swivel around endlessly. He is deeply angered at the clone Wasabi reflection in the glass though. He presses his face up to it and waves his fins angrily. I don't think he will win that fight.
Ginger, the fish I actually caught, is shy and delicate. She swims along the bottom, weaves in and out of the plants, and sucks on rocks. Luckily I bought the bigger stones since one of the ladies told me how her goldfish died cause it tried to eat gravel. O_o!!
I fed all the goldfish even though Kikko is new to the tank. Hopefully she won't get sick or be too nervous. Apparently ryukins get sick easy in new environments. They have sensitive intestines, and get this, an easy cure is to drop a frozen pea into the tank for them to eat!
Buying the tank and decorations was the scary part. I agonized over what to get. But at least now people will know what to get me! A giftcard to petsmart, lol! I bought more pebbles today, but they didn't have the color I wanted. But my fish need an inch of pebble floor, so I didn't have a choice. The floor is silver, black, and red now. The silver is super bright. I didn't think it would be that garish in the tank. When they get more red stones in stock I'll trade out the silver ones. I need to get a back up bowl for when I'm cleaning their tank but that can wait a bit.
I watched "the pebble and the penguin" again. I really like parts if the movie even if some people don't like it. I wish I were elegant and sophisticated like Marina. Talking about pebbles made me think about that.
Finally on the sixth volume of the glorious dragon prince/star chronicles. While there is a lot of death, at this point I really care about all the characters. It's such a great series. I think I'll reread the chrestomanici chronicles next. I want a good laugh.
Mmmm... I really want sushi. Theres no one to go with. There will be someday. :)
