*warning for extreme generalisations*
Why is it that boys don't know how to look after themselves when sick? Of the 2 of us, I am generally held to be the one most likely to catch a flu/virus/etc if it is going around but as I tend to look after myself when ill, it goes away relatively quickly. I have a vague memory of reading something that says men are more likely to die younger than women partially because they do not look after themselves or seek professional assistance when ill as readily. Could just be my imagination.
J, in an excess of affection, refuses to listen to warnings re catching my lurgy and subsequently contracts it. This has also been the pattern of everyone of my male partners over the years save one. This frustrates me more than a little
My lurgy: I take a day and a half off from work, spend the weekend in bed, go to bed almost as soon as I get home from work for 4 days and manage not to miss any time from work. I squirt stuff up my nose, rub stuff on my chest, take my tablets and generally follow the advice of my doctor.
His lurgy: He doesn't like to squirt stuff up his nose, rub stuff on his chest or look after himself properly (well to my standards). End result - 2 weeks off work. Yay for permanent employment, sick leave and caretaker governments.
I have pointed out to him that my refusal to kiss him at present is not a rejection of him. I'm just not willing to reinfect myself, marriage vows or no. This is especially important as I have now managed to complete my 2nd morning of exercising before I get ready for work, a habit which I am attempting re-establish. It's the little victories that count.
