The sun beat down on the pavement outside Greendale Community College. Abed was walking around with Troy(who was holding Abed's video camera)and yelling at people about things beyond his control-Britta called it his Michael Moore phase. He was mid-sentence, towering over a confused cafeteria worker named Maria, yelling about Global Warming, when Troy made a yelping noise he only saved for situations that were extremely strenuous on his brain.
Abed snapped his head toward his best friend, who was pointing beyond Abed with a shaking hand. Abed glanced over and immediately understood. He wordlessly took the camera and walked stealthily to a nearby tree, leaving a freaked out Troy to apologize to a shaken up Maria. From the tree, he could see a young couple standing on the steps leading away from/in to the library.
She was short and petite, and he was tall and lanky, his bed head completely noticeable, even from Abed's tree. He was hunched over, hand intertwined with his girlfriend. She stomped her foot and withdrew her hand as she folded them both and appeared to be scolding him, then he threw his hands back in frustration. She looked away and mumbled something and he threw his head back in laughter.
The girl visibly pouted, and turned to walk away. Her boyfriend grabbed her hand and whipped her back around. The two stared at each other for what felt like an hour but was, in reality, only a few minutes, maybe talking, maybe not. Abed couldn't tell from there. The girlfriend eventually reached up for a kiss, and they walked down the steps, smiles on their faces and hand in hand, ready to enjoy the afternoon. Abed smiled and turned the camera off-he finally had evidence of Jeff and Annie's love to show the group.
A few feet away, Jeff was doubled over in laughter and Annie was elbowing him frantically, shushing him. They couldn't afford to have their cover blown, not after they stayed quiet this entire time. They collapsed back on to the bench, Jeff wiping tears from his eyes and Annie glancing around nervously. When she discovered the coast was clear, she relaxed on to the bench and leaned her head on Jeff's shoulder.
"That'll teach Abed for always trying to tell the group we're together...." Jeff trailed off, wincing. It had sounded cooler in his head. Annie, however, couldn't tell how lame it was. She just looked concerned. "I feel bad, And he's going to show the group, you know he is. Maybe we should just tell him." Jeff sighed. "Annie. He deserved it. he's trying to exploit our friendship and turn it into something more because he's afraid our "show" is boring this "season". Jeff stated. "plus, he couldn't even recognize his own web series actors. Like I said before, it serves him right. And he won't show the group. I've got Britta taking care of that."
Annie sighed uncertainly, and got up. "well, I have homework. I better get going." Jeff got up "I'll walk you to your car." he put his arm around her shoulder and steered her towards the parking lot. They giggled and whispered and Annie pulled on her backpack straps the way she did when she's flirting. To any passerby, they just looked like an ordinary couple, enjoying their afternoon.
